Patient Care Representative

Job Summary 
The Patient Care Representative functions as a front desk and surgical scheduling position, responsible for coordinating patient visits, scheduling surgeries using Epic, and ensuring smooth daily operations for both patients and clinical staff. 
The ideal candidate will have experience scheduling surgeries in a healthcare setting, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Epic scheduling systems. This position plays a critical role in delivering excellent patient service while maintaining accurate scheduling, registration, and insurance verification processes. 
 
Patient Care Representative Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgical procedures and patient appointments using Epic scheduling system 
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival while ensuring a professional and welcoming environment 
  • Collect co-payments and process patient payments in accordance with office procedures 
  • Verify patient insurance information and coordinate pre-authorizations when required 
  • Answer and route incoming calls, providing assistance and accurate information to patients 
  • Coordinate surgical scheduling with physicians, clinical staff, and hospital departments 
  • Maintain patient records and prepare charts for clinic sessions 
  • Perform daily batching of payments and administrative documentation 
  • Assist physicians, practice managers, and clinical staff with administrative support as needed 
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy standards and facility policies 

 
Patient Care Representative Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • 2+ years of surgical scheduling experience in a hospital or healthcare practice environment 
  • Epic scheduling system experience required 
  • Strong knowledge of patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling workflows 
  • Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills 
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a Urology practice or specialty clinic preferred 
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
