Collects, labels, processes, stores, and packages patient specimens according to established procedures while providing courteous service and helping patients feel at ease. Enters and verifies patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information; maintains records and logs; and follows laboratory safety, privacy, and security requirements. At least one year of related experience is preferred. A high school diploma or GED and phlebotomist certification are preferred, with certification required in Louisiana; education may also be required by state and laboratory guidelines.
