Job Summary
The Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in medical laboratories, focusing on the collection of blood samples and ensuring that all procedures align with established standards. This position involves interacting with patients to ensure a comfortable experience while accurately handling specimens for further analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures to collect blood samples from patients.
- Prepare specimens appropriately for testing, ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols.
- Accurately label and store samples to maintain their integrity.
- Maintain and sanitize laboratory equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
- Update patient records with the collected information to ensure accurate medical records.
- Deliver friendly and professional service to patients during the collection process.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A current phlebotomy certification, if mandated by state law.
- At least 6 months of experience in performing venipunctures within a high-paced laboratory or hospital environment.
