Job Summary
The Phlebotomist will play a crucial role in collecting blood samples from patients for diagnostic purposes, working primarily on weekday nights. The individual must ensure accuracy, maintain safety protocols, and provide excellent patient care throughout the sample collection process.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws to collect blood specimens from patients.
- Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of blood samples.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and equipment.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations when handling specimens.
- Provide compassionate patient interaction, addressing concerns and making the experience as comfortable as possible.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
- Certification in phlebotomy (e.g., from ASCP or equivalent) is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in phlebotomy or a similar role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance standards.
