Job Summary
The Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. This position requires a skilled professional who is capable of ensuring patient comfort while efficiently obtaining samples. The Phlebotomist will maintain a high standard of accuracy and quality in sample collection and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary collections on patients of all ages.
- Ensure patient identification and proper labeling of samples.
- Maintain sterile techniques and cleanliness in all procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and provide instructions.
- Record and manage patient data accurately in electronic systems.
- Adhere to safety and compliance protocols within healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in phlebotomy preferred.
- Previous experience as a phlebotomist is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures.
