Position Overview
We are in search of a Plastics Engineer II who will enhance our manufacturing operations through innovations in product design and processes, the introduction of new products, equipment deployment, and optimization of procedures. This position necessitates close collaboration with manufacturing, quality assurance, maintenance, automation, supply chain, and product development teams to boost production efficiency, address technical issues, and guarantee successful execution of engineering tasks. The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on engineer with a background in plastics manufacturing, including expertise in injection molding, blow molding, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver daily engineering assistance for molding, blow molding, automation, quality, and tooling operations to meet production and business goals.
- Drive and facilitate initiatives aimed at improving product and process quality, productivity, and overall manufacturing performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, implementing corrective measures to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Design and engineer plastic components for both new and existing products.
- Participate in product design sessions to help define product specifications and performance criteria.
- Develop, revise, and maintain documentation for components and assemblies.
- Identify, design, acquire, install, and validate new manufacturing equipment and processes while ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory standards.
- Take the lead or be involved in process validation efforts and equipment qualification activities.
- Coordinate the introduction of new products in collaboration with various departments including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Development, Quality, and Marketing.
- Oversee engineering projects from planning through execution, managing schedules, resources, budgets, and timelines.
- Assist with engineering initiatives in supply chain and ongoing improvement efforts.
- Conduct trials on production lines for new products, tooling, equipment, and automation technologies.
- Create operating procedures, work instructions, training guides, and start-up documents for new processes and machinery.
- Document engineering projects and modifications to manufacturing processes and equipment to ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure successful project execution and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a similar field is preferred.
- If a degree is not available, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in plastics manufacturing will be taken into account.
- At least 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
- Experience in supporting injection molding, blow molding, plastics processing, or comparable manufacturing operations is necessary.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo or SOLIDWORKS is highly desired.
- Familiarity with process improvement techniques, manufacturing troubleshooting, equipment installation, and process validation is essential.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management abilities are a must.
- Excellent communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively across diverse teams are required.
