Process Engineer
Location: Fort Mill, South Carolina (On-site)
Compensation: $58.22 per hour
Contract Duration: 7 months with potential for hire
Job Overview
As a Process Engineer, you will take the lead in the creation and execution of manufacturing automation strategies aimed at enhancing safety, product quality, efficiency, and process stability across various manufacturing facilities. This position involves close collaboration with operations, engineering, IT, quality assurance, research and development, and capital projects teams to design, integrate, and enhance automated systems that reduce tasks categorized as dirty, dull, or dangerous (3D). You will support capital initiatives by directing automation strategies, overseeing equipment commissioning, optimizing processes, and fostering continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to safety and cybersecurity protocols. Furthermore, this role includes providing technical guidance, mentorship, and training to production teams, promoting the usage of digital manufacturing innovations and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead automation projects that minimize 3D tasks and enhance safety, quality, productivity, and process dependability.
- Design, build, integrate, and roll out automated manufacturing solutions such as robotics, PLCs, control systems, and digital technologies.
- Collaborate with plant operations, process subject matter experts, IT, Quality, R&D, and Capital Engineering to pinpoint automation prospects and enhance manufacturing workflows.
- Establish and uphold automation architectures, programming standards, documentation, and technical specifications.
- Oversee the scope, timelines, budget, and resources of automation projects to guarantee successful implementation.
- Perform process evaluations, root cause analyses, and apply corrective measures utilizing digital tools and data analytics.
- Assist capital and productivity enhancements through equipment upgrades, commissioning, start-up support, and Management of Change processes.
- Ensure that automation systems conform to company safety protocols, regulatory mandates, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Create preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, work instructions, and equipment procedures.
- Evaluate process performance metrics to uncover improvement potential and calculate return on investment (ROI) for automation endeavors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or automation engineering.
- Familiarity with industrial automation, robotics, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization techniques.
- Proficient with automation software such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Python.
- Exemplary analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.
