Process Engineer

As a Process Engineer, your role will encompass the development and troubleshooting of plant process systems. This includes the execution of process strategies, resource management, optimization of key process variables and conditions, and the upkeep of process documentation. Your focus will be on the continuous enhancement of manufacturing unit operations.
Key Responsibilities of the Process Engineer:
- Enhance manufacturing unit processes by providing engineering support aimed at improving process flows, production yields, cost efficiency, equipment reliability, waste reduction, and environmental health and safety (EH&S) through informed, data-driven decisions.
- Support manufacturing teams daily by observing production runs, investigating root causes of non-compliant production outcomes, and formulating sustainable corrective measures.
- Maintain and seek opportunities to enhance product quality and compliance with standards through continuous process and operational procedure improvements.
- Collaborate with on-site teams, including manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, EH&S, and quality departments to drive technical enhancements in processes.
- Analyze and resolve issues stemming from customer feedback and process deviations for both new and existing products.
- Act as the technical intermediary for integrating new product development initiatives into manufacturing processes.
- Execute various studies and evaluations including (a) new process optimization, (b) process capability assessments, (c) Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) assessments, (d) process safety reviews, (e) evaluations for custom toll manufacturing opportunities, and (f) process Design of Experiments (DOEs).
- Prepare capital fund requests for process upgrades and new installations focusing on improvements.
- Ensure compliance with EH&S standards set forth by the company, regulatory authorities, and other external agencies regarding process improvements.
- Provide support to the Production Unit Manager with production reporting and decision-making, taking charge of departmental staff in their absence.
- Adhere to Quality and EH&S policies and comply with ISO 9001 and RC14001 management system requirements, managing Management of Change (MOCs) and root cause corrective actions for ESHCARs and ISOCARs within the Production Unit.
Qualifications for the Process Engineer:
- Strong dedication to safety protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in process engineering, ideally within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Capability to lead long-term strategic projects as well as resolve immediate operational challenges.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Robust analytical, technical, and strategic thinking abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
