Procurement Analyst

The **Procurement Analyst** role plays a crucial part in managing procurement activities and agreements for Research & Development (R&D) locations throughout North America. This position entails handling a variety of complex and diverse responsibilities to ensure needs of clients, suppliers, and internal buyers are met efficiently. Acting as the main point of contact for purchase orders, inquiries, invoicing, and related purchasing documents, the ideal candidate should be a proactive problem solver with excellent customer service skills. The Procurement Analyst will utilize independent judgment to address issues, ensure a steady supply chain, and deliver outstanding service to clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for daily R&D team and supplier inquiries, exercising discretion in resolving issues when buyers are unavailable.
- Quickly address urgent delivery, supply, and invoicing challenges, resolving them autonomously without escalations to leadership.
- Develop, negotiate, and oversee procurement agreements for goods and services.
- Serve as the authorized buyer with execution powers.
- Negotiate contract terms such as T&Cs, fixed prices, labor rates, mark-ups, and payment specifications.
- Create and manage white paper agreements.
- Review orders to validate the correct terms and conditions, involving Legal support during supplier negotiations as necessary.
- Track agreement expiration dates and work with buyers to renew, cancel, or recreate contracts when appropriate.
- Collaborate with supply chain professionals or contract administrators to execute agreements effectively at the site level.
- Assist new buyers by offering insights into S&L policies, procedures, and overall processes post-negotiation.
- Evaluate workload independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and ensure a consistent supply to clients and stakeholders.
- Initiate and implement process enhancements, including creating SOPs and training materials.
- Engage in global standardization projects and contribute to improving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support ISO 9001 audit preparations as required.
Qualifications
- A degree in Supply Chain or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Significant experience in procurement, supply chain management, or expediting is favored.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a client-focused attitude and strong interpersonal communication capabilities.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Proficient time-management skills, capable of prioritizing tasks to meet annual objectives.
- Well-organized; able to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to shifting priorities under pressure.
- A team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach to supporting colleagues and demonstrating professionalism with clients, suppliers, and buyers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with procurement systems like SAP is essential.
