Production Supervisor

$65,000-70,000 + Bonus
The Production Supervisor is responsible for guiding and managing the shop floor to achieve production objectives in an efficient manner. This role is essential in synchronizing daily activities with the production capacity plan, overseeing workforce requirements through hiring and disciplinary actions, and fostering effective collaboration with various teams. The supervisor also plays a crucial role in promoting a safe and engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor:
- Manage shop floor operations to ensure adherence to production schedules and capacity plans.
- Oversee workflow, prioritize assignments, and troubleshoot operational issues to reduce downtime.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety standards, quality requirements, and internal policies.
- Provide clear guidance and support to shop floor personnel to ensure that they understand their expectations and priorities.
- Lead efforts in hiring, onboarding, and training to cultivate a knowledgeable and effective team.
- Address performance issues through coaching, constructive feedback, and disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Encourage a collaborative atmosphere that fosters teamwork, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
- Work closely with planning, engineering, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to meet operational demands and overcome production hurdles.
- Regularly communicate with management regarding the status of production, staffing needs, and any operational challenges.
- Identify and execute process enhancements that boost efficiency and minimize waste on the shop floor.
- Monitor production metrics and spearhead initiatives aimed at achieving or surpassing performance goals.
- Encourage team involvement in problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain thorough records of production activities, workforce performance, and any incidents or delays.
- Provide management with daily updates and reports on production status and employee activities.
Qualifications for the Production Supervisor:
- Demonstrable supervisory experience within a manufacturing or production setting.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities, with a track record of motivating and managing a diverse workforce.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities in dynamic environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with employees and cross-functional teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of production processes, capacity planning, and safety standards.
