Overview of Senior Project Architect Role:
The Senior Project Architect is a vital leader within our organization, responsible for the design and implementation of intricate architectural projects. This role demands an experienced professional with substantial technical knowledge, exceptional project management capabilities, and a passion for mentoring less experienced team members. The Senior Project Architect guarantees that all project outcomes meet quality, regulatory, and design criteria while nurturing robust client connections and enhancing the firm’s growth and reputation.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Project Architect:
- Oversee and manage several architectural projects simultaneously, guiding them from initial concept to final completion.
- Act as the design and technical authority for assigned project disciplines, offering strategic insights and guidance.
- Direct the efforts of junior architects, designers, and consultants to promote high-quality and efficient project execution.
- Supervise the creation of comprehensive architectural documentation, detailed drawings, BIM models, and specifications.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant building codes, zoning laws, standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Provide mentorship, training, and performance support to junior staff to encourage their professional development and enhance project outcomes.
- Establish and uphold project schedules, workflows, and resource allocations to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships through ongoing communication, prompt responses, and diligent follow-through.
- Collaborate with Project Managers regarding budgets, timelines, client presentations, and team coordination.
- Advise on technical best practices, firm standards, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Represent the firm at industry events and within the professional community.
- Engage in or facilitate community involvement initiatives as desired.
Qualifications for the Senior Project Architect:
- Over 10 years of experience in architecture.
- At least 5 years of experience as a licensed or registered architect.
- Specialization in at least one major building or project type (e.g., healthcare, education, civic, commercial, or residential).
- Demonstrated leadership in managing project teams and collaborating with external partners.
- Strong expertise in architectural design and production software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
- Thorough knowledge of building systems, construction processes, and documentation standards.
- Outstanding communication, coordination, and client relations skills.
- Able to work collaboratively, take initiative, and achieve results.
Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Project Architect:
- Active participation in industry organizations (AIA, USGBC, etc.).
- Experience in community service or volunteer work.
