Reliability Engineer

Job Summary

The Reliability Engineer will focus on identifying areas for enhancement and applying innovative solutions to optimize equipment reliability, minimize unexpected downtime, and enhance the lifespan of assets. This position involves developing and refining maintenance strategies, boosting equipment productivity, and lowering life-cycle expenses throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture aimed at zero Environmental Health & Safety incidents by aiding in investigations, pinpointing root causes, implementing preventive measures, and rectifying unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) related to maintenance, equipment, and control challenges while enacting durable corrective measures.
  • Utilize systematic problem-solving methods such as 5-Why and Ishikawa/Fishbone techniques.
  • Create and enhance equipment management strategies, encompassing Preventive, Predictive, and Condition-Based Maintenance, to lessen unplanned downtimes and elongate asset longevity.
  • Establish and uphold equipment criticality rankings to guide maintenance and reliability priorities.
  • Leverage reliability metrics and equipment performance data to identify improvement areas and gauge outcomes.
  • Assist with daily troubleshooting, planning of maintenance, and repair activities for equipment.
  • Resolve intricate issues related to electrical, controls, mechanical systems, and machinery influencing production.
  • Standardize equipment, procedures, and operational practices to enhance consistency and reliability.
  • Support reliable equipment provision from the engineering/concept stage through to production.
  • Train maintenance and operations staff on reliability principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Implement process control principles, including variations, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Identify chances to augment equipment reliability while minimizing overall life-cycle expenses.
  • Carry out additional duties related to the role as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in reliability engineering within heavy industrial or continuous manufacturing settings.
  • Proven track record in systematic troubleshooting and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) with effective corrective actions.
  • Strong skills in both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with reliability practices, maintenance, and techniques for equipment enhancement.
  • Capable of assessing equipment and reliability data to identify issues and prioritize improvements.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, preferably SAP.
  • Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies.
  • Background in Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of process control concepts, including SPC and FMEA.
