Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients facing a variety of acute medical conditions. This role demands swift decision-making and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where critical thinking is essential for patient outcomes. The RN will collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure emergency care is administered effectively and compassionately.
Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on the severity of their conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as per physician’s orders and established protocols.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and responses to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment options, procedures, and care plans to enhance understanding and compliance.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the emergency room while adhering to all safety and infection control regulations.
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Associates degree in nursing from an accredited institution, with a preference for a Bachelor’s degree.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Experience in an emergency care setting or critical care is advantageous.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
