Job Summary
The SDU RN is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients in a Stepdown Unit (SDU), focusing on monitoring and managing their recovery post-critical care. This role entails delivering high standards of nursing practice and ensuring patient safety during this transitional phase of care.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients’ conditions, ensuring timely interventions for any changes in health status.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare team.
- Monitor vital signs and other clinical indicators, documenting changes and progress accurately.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment plans, and recovery processes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Previous experience in a Stepdown Unit, ICU, or similar critical care setting.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make critical decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working well within a team.
- BLS and ACLS certification required; additional certifications in critical care preferred.
