Senior Electrical Engineer
Remote
Compensation: $150k – $195k
The role of Senior Electrical Engineer demands a robust expertise in electric power transmission and delivery, combined with a strong inclination towards innovation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively across varied teams and with clients. This position involves working closely with client teams, allowing significant discretion in judgment and action regarding program objectives.
Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
- **Transmission Planning:** Conduct power system analyses, such as load flow, stability, short-circuit, and voltage evaluations, to support long-term transmission strategies while ensuring grid reliability.
- **Capacity Planning:** Generate load forecasts and analyze the influence of renewable energy, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and substantial electrical demands, like data centers, on the transmission framework.
- **System Studies & Compliance:** Oversee the interconnection study processes with ISO/RTO, ensure adherence to NERC and FERC standards, and carry out contingency assessments (N-1, N-1-1) to pinpoint and apply effective enhancements, including reconductoring and implementing Remedial Action Schemes (RAS).
- **Technical Leadership:** Compile detailed engineering reports and act as a technical authority in regional transmission planning activities, stakeholder meetings, and strategic initiatives.
- **Strategic Advisory:** Translate complex technical insights, such as power flow, thermal loading, and system stability evaluations, into succinct business guidance, project timelines, risk evaluations, and financial implications for executive leaders and stakeholders.
Senior Electrical Engineer Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Over 10 years of experience in power systems engineering.
- Background working with major utilities, ISO/RTOs, or specialized power delivery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS, PowerWorld Simulator, ETAP-G, or other energy management software.
- Ability to interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and RFPs.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Experience in electric utility capacity planning and operations is preferred.
