Senior Payroll Specialist 
Location: Avon, OH

Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite 
Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 

Overview:
The Senior Payroll Specialist plays a vital role in managing incentive initiatives, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and calculating incentive payments. This position involves account reconciliation, financial data analysis, and ensuring that payroll and incentive transactions align with internal policies and relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Specialist:

  • Execute precise and on-schedule biweekly payroll for all staff members.
  • Examine and confirm timekeeping records, including regular hours, overtime, paid time off, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation types.
  • Manage payroll modifications, retroactive payments, off-cycle payrolls, manual checks, and final disbursements when necessary.
  • Scrutinize payroll registers, reports, and supporting documents for accuracy before payroll execution.
  • Guarantee that all mandatory deductions, taxes, and withholdings are calculated and implemented correctly.
  • Process employee lifecycle changes, including new hires, separations, salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and other compensation modifications.
  • Oversee multi-state payroll operations independently, handling wage and overtime calculations, payroll deductions, pay advances, bonuses, commissions, and severance payments.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing payroll, including wage, hour, and tax compliance.
  • Stay informed about payroll legislation, regulations, and tax obligations pertaining to multi-state payroll management.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual payroll tax filing processes, reconciliations, and related compliance tasks.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures, which include the preparation, verification, and distribution of W-2s and other necessary tax documents.
  • Manage and process wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other legally mandated deductions.
  • Calculate, confirm, reconcile, and administer bonuses and incentive payouts according to established guidelines and programs.
  • Reconcile employee benefit invoices with enrollment systems to ensure precise deductions, coverage details, and employer contributions.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees and managers concerning payroll, compensation, deductions, timekeeping, and associated policies.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive employee, payroll, compensation, and financial details.

Qualifications for the Senior Payroll Specialist:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and four or more years of relevant payroll experience.
  • A minimum of four years of payroll processing experience is required, ideally in a multi-state context.
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, deductions, benefits, and compliance requirements; knowledge of Paycor is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certification as CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) is preferred.
