Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist plays a crucial role in managing product-related tasks. This includes overseeing raw materials, identifying parts, handling shipping and receiving operations, stockroom management, and ensuring clean operational practices.
Responsibilities
- Utilize appropriate identification tools and methods to distinguish components as per travelers and blueprints.
- Accurately measure and mark specific dimensions on parts for proper labeling.
- Prepare and safeguard parts and materials for shipping, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Package items according to standards while creating required labels and shipping documents using computer systems.
- Interpret and adhere to shipping instructions based on company policies, customer needs, and relevant regulations.
- Design stencils and mark shipments clearly for correct identification and delivery.
- Complete necessary paperwork, such as air bills and bills of lading for carriers and internal records.
- Work with carriers to arrange shipments, verify freight rates, and monitor the status of shipments.
- Receive and validate incoming materials based on type, number, or identification criteria.
- Organize inventory for storage by placing materials in specified locations.
- Retrieve and distribute inventory to meet order demands based on parts lists.
- Conduct cycle counts to help maintain inventory accuracy and control.
- Update and manage inventory and shipping records through computer systems.
- Use the Automated Storage and Retrieval System effectively to manage requisitions and resolve any shortages.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a shipping & receiving capacity.
- Basic mathematical skills are required.
- Capability to read and comprehend specifications.
- Forklift certification is advantageous.
- OSHA certification is also preferred.
