The **Shipping Specialist** plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, precise, and prompt preparation, packaging, documentation, and dispatch of chemical products. This position entails the operation and monitoring of various processing equipment, such as reactors, tanks, and material-handling systems, while accurately charging raw materials and regulating process parameters, including temperature, pressure, and levels. The specialist is also responsible for maintaining comprehensive production records, packaging finished goods according to customer specifications, and supporting material handling with manual methods and forklifts.
Key Responsibilities of the Shipping Specialist:
- Safely operate equipment, including starting, shutting down, and changing out products. Equipment may involve reactors, tanks, conveyors, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
- Verify product quantities, batch numbers, lot numbers, and shipping documents before sending out shipments.
- Monitor and regulate tank and reactor levels, temperature, and pressure through control adjustments.
- Ensure inventory accuracy.
- Package final products in bags, drums, or supersacks according to company and customer guidelines.
- Manually move product bags and drums, using forklifts as necessary.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate a forklift effectively.
- Conduct regular housekeeping to maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
- Adhere to safety protocols to prevent chemical incidents and immediately report any product or machinery issues to a supervisor.
Qualifications for the Shipping Specialist:
- Possession of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Capability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to manually lift, push, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
- Willingness to wear a negative-pressure elastomeric seal respirator when required.
