Job Summary
The Step Down RN will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care to lower-acuity settings. This position demands a high level of clinical expertise as well as the ability to handle complex medical situations effectively while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report changes to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with physicians and other nursing staff to create and implement patient care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding care plans and health management.
- Document all care provided and maintain accurate health records.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new nursing staff.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in step down or critical care nursing preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification; advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
