Night Shift: 6pm – 6am
The Sterile Compounding Pharmacist oversees sterile compounding operations within a regulated cleanroom environment, ensuring compliance with USP 797, USP 800, and all applicable state and federal regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert for aseptic technique, hazardous drug handling, and compounding quality while providing hands-on leadership to pharmacy and technician teams.
Sterile Compounding Pharmacist Responsibilities:
- Direct sterile compounding activities in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800
- Maintain and enforce aseptic technique, cleanroom standards, and environmental controls
- Train, mentor, and supervise pharmacists, technicians, and support staff
- Perform and document sterile compounding procedures and QA/QC checks
- Review and approve materials, components, and supplies prior to compounding
- Oversee cleanroom workflow, daily logs, and environmental monitoring
- Ensure proper use and coordination of sterile compounding equipment
- Collaborate with Quality and R&D on new product development and scale-up
- Enforce PPE, hazardous drug handling, and safety procedures
- Coordinate with pharmacy leadership on compliance and regulatory matters
Sterile Compounding Pharmacist Requirements:
- PharmD or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution
- Active Pharmacist license in the state of Ohio
- Experience as a pharmacist with sterile compounding exposure
- Strong working knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800
- Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
- Ability to work overnight
- Proficiency with Windows-based systems and electronic documentation
- Ability to wear PPE for extended periods
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25–50 pounds
- Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, safety-first mindset
