Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring that surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position is essential for patient safety and the overall efficiency of healthcare operations. Technicians will adhere to strict protocols to prepare sterile instruments for surgical procedures while collaborating with medical staff to meet the operational needs of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Utilize proper techniques for cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.
- Inspect items for cleanliness and functionality before sterilization.
- Adhere to stringent safety and infection control practices.
- Document sterilization processes and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in inventory management of surgical tools and supplies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in medical technology preferred.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
