Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures that all items are prepared in accordance with established protocols to promote patient safety and infection control.
Responsibilities
- Receive, clean, and package surgical instruments and equipment.
- Operate sterilization machinery and validate effectiveness through routine monitoring.
- Maintain compliance with standard operating procedures for sterilization processes.
- Conduct routine inspections of processed items for cleanliness and operability.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations relevant to sterile processing.
- Assist in inventory management and supply replenishment as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in sterile processing preferred.
- Previous experience in a sterile processing role is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols meticulously.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
