Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare setting by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use. They are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and functionality to support patient safety and effective surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of medical and surgical instruments.
- Inspect, assemble, and package instruments for sterilization.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment logs.
- Adhere to established protocols and safety standards for infection control.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate timely instrument availability.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Sterile Processing course or relevant certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control policies.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
