Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare environment by ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are proficiently cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols, directly impacting patient care and hospital operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization processes of all medical instruments and supplies.
- Follow established protocols for instrument preparation and display exceptional attention to infection control measures.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory for compliance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of sterilization equipment to ensure operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program preferred.
- Certifications such as CRCST or CSPDT are advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of sterilization methods and infection control standards.
