Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare environment by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position is essential in maintaining sterile conditions, thereby supporting patient safety and care quality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment following specific procedures.
- Operate sterilization equipment effectively to ensure compliance with health standards.
- Inspect and maintain instruments, identifying any damage or malfunctions.
- Label and package items appropriately for storage and transportation.
- Document all processes to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized sterile processing area to uphold safety protocols.
- Collaborate with medical staff to provide necessary items for surgical procedures.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; certification in sterile processing is preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in sterile processing, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of sterilization methods and cleaning techniques for surgical instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols strictly.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job.
