Supplier Quality Engineer
$110-115,000/YR

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards of quality. The successful candidate will develop and implement effective quality control procedures for suppliers, conduct thorough audits, and manage corrective action plans to address any quality-related issues. The role also requires oversight of the Approved Vendor List, conducting both internal and external audits, and supporting our calibration and documentation systems to meet Business Management Systems requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

**Supplier Management**

  • Perform regular audits of suppliers to verify adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct on-site supplier audits, necessitating approximately 30-60% travel.
  • Execute remote survey audits.
  • Document and compile audit findings effectively.
  • Perform risk assessments and manage associated documentation.
  • Establish and implement supplier performance metrics.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on supplier performance metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to address quality issues and execute corrective actions.
  • Review and sanction supplier quality documentation.
  • Oversee non-conformance reports and liaise with suppliers for prompt resolution.
  • Drive supplier development initiatives focused on continuous improvement.
  • Provide training to suppliers through both on-site and remote methods.
  • Engage in supplier selection and qualification processes.
  • Administer the Approved Vendor List, including onboarding and release processes.
  • Assist in handling requests for new vendors.
  • Maintain up-to-date certification and documentation for records.
  • Support the new product development process by ensuring supplier quality criteria are fulfilled.

**Business Management Systems**

  • Oversee internal corrective actions aimed at fostering continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the management and supervision of the calibration system.
  • Plan and conduct internal and customer audits.
  • Control BMS documentation, ensuring timely updates and distribution.
  • Manage documentation for the Repair Station and training database.
  • Provide inspection support as necessary.
  • Coordinate the annual company eye exam logistics.
  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Conduct business in alignment with all applicable laws and regulations, promoting ethical practices with integrity and honesty.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in quality assurance or supplier quality engineering.
  • Certification in Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AS 9100 or other relevant quality standards.
  • Skilled in utilizing quality management analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-resolution capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) methods.
  • Expertise in supplier audit processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality control principles and practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office and quality management software.
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in root cause analysis methods.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
