Job Summary
The Surgical Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery plays a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures related to the heart and chest. This position demands advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in cardiothoracic environments to assist lead surgeons effectively and ensure the highest standards of patient care during operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team with procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments and equipment necessary for surgery.
- Maintain sterile environments throughout the surgical process.
- Provide direct support to surgeons during procedures, including handling instruments and managing surgical supplies.
- Monitor patient vitals and support anesthesia as required during surgeries.
- Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to optimize patient outcomes and streamline processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Surgical Assistant, with a focus on cardiothoracic surgery.
- Comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and patient care standards.
- Certification in surgical technology or equivalent healthcare certification is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a healthcare team.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick decisions for patient safety.
