Job Summary
The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in surgical settings, providing essential support to the surgical team by preparing the operating room, managing instruments, and ensuring a sterile environment during procedures.
Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain a sterile field, ensuring that all instruments and supplies are prepared before surgery begins.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during operations by passing instruments and providing necessary assistance.
- Handle and dispose of surgical waste in accordance with safety protocols.
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment post-procedure.
- Monitor and maintain necessary supplies, notifying the appropriate personnel when restocking is needed.
- Participate in the inventory management of surgical tools and materials.
Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the appropriate governing body.
- Certification as a surgical technologist (CST) preferred or required based on the employer.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols meticulously.
