Job Summary
The role involves ensuring that operating rooms are maintained in a sterile manner, preparing necessary instruments and supplies, and providing assistance to the surgeon and the perioperative team during surgical procedures. The position also encompasses conducting surgical counts, ensuring safe patient positioning and transfers, reprocessing instruments, and maintaining the operating rooms for upcoming cases.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments in the operating rooms.
- Assist surgeons and the perioperative team throughout surgical procedures.
- Conduct surgical counts accurately.
- Support safe patient positioning and transfers to optimize care.
- Reprocess surgical instruments to ensure readiness for upcoming operations.
- Ensure that the operating rooms are kept clean and prepared for subsequent cases.
Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technology or practical nursing program, or an associate degree in surgical technology or applied sciences.
- Experience in an operating room as a surgical technician, ranging from 0 to 2 years.
- Knowledge of surgical protocols, instrument handling, aseptic techniques, sterilization processes, and infection control methods.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory; Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is preferred.
