Job Summary
The Surgical Tech in Labor and Delivery plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, providing support during childbirth procedures. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, emphasizing patient safety and effective communication within the surgical environment to enhance overall patient care during labor and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing the operating room, ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Support the obstetric team during labor and delivery, assisting with various surgical procedures as needed.
- Monitor and maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgery process.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, obstetricians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide post-operative care support by ensuring proper patient transfer and recovery.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Surgical Technology program or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
- Experience in a labor and delivery setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
