Job Summary
The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the surgical team, assisting in operations and ensuring that the operating room is prepared efficiently. Their responsibilities extend through various phases of surgical procedures, providing critical support to both the surgical team and patients alike.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operating room, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
- Handle and dispose of surgical instruments and materials in accordance with health and safety protocols.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition during surgeries as needed.
- Participate in pre-operative and post-operative care, aiding in the patient’s overall experience and recovery.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative medical team.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
