Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the operating room, assisting with the preparation and execution of surgical procedures. Their primary responsibility involves ensuring that the surgical team has the necessary tools and equipment readily available while maintaining a sterile environment for optimal patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Assist in the setup of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure all necessary supplies are available and organized for procedures.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during operations by handing them instruments and other items.
- Manage and dispose of surgical waste following safety protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and assist with other tasks as required during surgery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the operating room before, during, and after procedures.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred or required.
- Understanding of surgical procedures and anatomy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to react quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
