Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist (CST) for General Surgery plays a critical role in the operating room, ensuring that each moment counts during surgical procedures. This position is vital within an acute-care community teaching hospital that serves the Central Connecticut region, providing comprehensive medical services to patients of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgeries, ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating their needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the operating room before, during, and after surgeries.
- Participate in the care of patients by documenting processes and communicating effectively with team members.
- Follow established protocols and guidelines to deliver optimal patient care and enhance surgical outcomes.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is required.
- Experience in a surgical setting, particularly in general surgery, is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for collaborating with surgical staff.
