Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) for Labor & Delivery/OB plays a vital role in providing support to surgical teams in a fast-paced environment. This position is focused on assisting with various surgical procedures in the obstetrics and gynecology field, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of operations. The role requires a thorough understanding of sterilization processes and surgical protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assist during surgical procedures, particularly in labor and delivery settings.
- Conduct required sterilization, scrubbing, and high-level disinfection (HLD) protocols.
- Support the surgical team with necessary medical instruments and supplies.
- Ensure a sterile field is maintained throughout procedures.
- Be involved in laparoscopic ectopic procedures and cystoscopic surgeries as needed.
- Work collaboratively with nurses and surgeons to ensure optimal patient care.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and familiarity with sterilization techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience in labor and delivery or OB settings is advantageous.
