Technical Product Owner
Remote (EST Hours)
Contract
$57.80/hr W2 Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Technical Product Owner with exceptional communication skills to lead requirements discovery and modernization efforts for a legacy healthcare platform. The ideal candidate bridges business and technology teams, translating domain-specific concepts into clear, actionable requirements for engineering teams.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, architects, SMEs, engineering teams, QA, and cross-functional departments.
  • Lead end-to-end requirements discovery, including stakeholder interviews, workflow mapping, gap analysis, and system behavior documentation.
  • Translate complex Medicare/Medicaid and healthcare operations processes into well-structured user stories, business use cases, acceptance criteria, workflows, and system requirements.
  • Understand architectural vocabulary and technical concepts (APIs, data flows, integrations, databases, legacy systems) to accurately capture system behavior and modernization needs.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog; refine stories for development readiness and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and cross-team coordination to remove roadblocks and ensure timely delivery.
  • Evaluate current-state legacy systems, document dependencies, and define future-state capabilities in collaboration with architects and engineering leads.
  • Communicate clearly with executive-level stakeholders and present requirements, updates, risks, and recommendations.
  • Work proactively with compliance, operations, clinical, and analytics teams to ensure regulatory alignment, especially CMS, Medicare, and Medicaid program rules.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience as a Technical Product Owner or Business Systems Analyst in healthcare, Medicare/Medicaid, claims, or eligibility systems preferred.
  • Strong ability to understand technical discussions without needing to code; ability to translate architectural concepts for business teams.
  • Hands-on experience documenting legacy system behavior and defining modernization requirements.
  • Proven go-getter with strong facilitation, leadership, and problem-solving skills; able to work independently in a cross-department environment.
