Technician I
Evansville, IN
$18/HR The Technician I plays a key role in supporting daily operations by assembling, servicing, and calibrating electrical protection devices, primarily molded case circuit breakers. This position works under the direction of a manager and is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery to customers. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a technical manufacturing environment. Technician I Responsibilities

  • Assemble, service, test, and calibrate electrical protection devices, primarily molded case circuit breakers
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using proper diagnostic procedures
  • Operate manual and power hand tools, as well as high-tech calibration equipment
  • Utilize laser etching equipment as needed
  • Communicate professionally with customers via phone and email regarding quotes, orders, and service updates
  • Perform order entry, invoicing, and related documentation
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with inventory control
  • Keep shop area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
  • Participate in ongoing training and skill development programs
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Report safety hazards or incidents promptly

Technician I Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in a technical, maintenance, manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environment
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physical job duties
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or Associate degree in electronics, mechanics, industrial technology, or related field
  • Experience with CMMS or maintenance tracking software
  • Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial safety standards
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices
