Technician I
Evansville, IN
$18/HR The Technician I plays a key role in supporting daily operations by assembling, servicing, and calibrating electrical protection devices, primarily molded case circuit breakers. This position works under the direction of a manager and is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery to customers. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a technical manufacturing environment. Technician I Responsibilities
- Assemble, service, test, and calibrate electrical protection devices, primarily molded case circuit breakers
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using proper diagnostic procedures
- Operate manual and power hand tools, as well as high-tech calibration equipment
- Utilize laser etching equipment as needed
- Communicate professionally with customers via phone and email regarding quotes, orders, and service updates
- Perform order entry, invoicing, and related documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with inventory control
- Keep shop area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Participate in ongoing training and skill development programs
- Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Report safety hazards or incidents promptly
Technician I Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience in a technical, maintenance, manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environment
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physical job duties
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or Associate degree in electronics, mechanics, industrial technology, or related field
- Experience with CMMS or maintenance tracking software
- Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial safety standards
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices
