Trauma Registrar

$30/HR The Trauma Registrar assists with gathering patient information from the medical record and enters all patient information required into the trauma registry. They maintain the trauma daily lists, abstracts, and performance improvement with registry patients. Assists with compiling statistical information and preparing reports for research and other requests as needed. Trauma Registrar Responsibilities:
- Identify trauma patients for entry into the Trauma Registry
- Locates patients with ED admissions, direct admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Abstracts data from charts that are required for the Trauma registry, including ICD-10 diagnosis, procedures, ISS/AIS, and other information required by NTDB/TQIP/NORTR
- Performs data searches report as requested in the Trauma Registry
- Compiles statistical information, analyzes data, and audits for research and other projects
- Develops and generates numerous periodical reports to monitor quality indicators, summarize demographics of trauma patient population, and project future trends
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information
- Assists with preparing reports for the Trauma Committee
- Calculate ISS
- Identify PI and or issues on a case-by-case review
- Data entry and verification (quality control)
- Assists with trauma clerical functions as required
- Produces typed copy from rough-written copy or oral instructions involving correspondence, reports, and other material of a technical or confidential nature
- Maintenance of filing and search files, including organizational skills with good follow-through
Trauma Registrar Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Must be experienced and able to jump right in – there will not be training for this position
- 3-5 years in Trauma Registry
- 2 years of experience in ICD-10-CM coding and AIS coding
- Must be able to type 20 WPM
- Must be familiar with Word and Excel
- Preferred: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification, certified coding specialist certification (CCS), or Associate's degree in the Allied Health field with an emphasis in Anatomy & Physiology
- Preferred: CSTR
