MRI Technologist
Battle Creek, MI
$65-67/hr $2,680/week

The MRI Technologist will be responsible for delivering MRI imaging services to both inpatient and outpatient populations in the Battle Creek, MI region. This is a 13-week contract position that involves working night shifts, specifically from Sunday to Thursday, and requires extensive experience in performing various MRI procedures, including but not limited to body, neuro, musculoskeletal, spine, chest, and advanced imaging studies. Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of MRI experience, with needed expertise in teaching and community hospital environments, along with current BLS certification and either ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT credentials.

Responsibilities of the MRI Technologist:

  • Conduct both routine and advanced MRI examinations covering abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, breast, spine, musculoskeletal areas, prostate, perfusion, and other related procedures.
  • Serve outpatient and inpatient needs, including those from ER/trauma, adult acute care, and outpatient services.
  • Operate MRI machinery, specifically Philips 3T scanners, with preference given to candidates with GE scanner experience.
  • Utilize PACS and documentation systems such as EPIC and McKesson to enhance imaging workflows and maintain patient records.
  • Prepare and/or administer contrast media and perform peripheral IV starts when necessary.
  • Apply MRI methods including diffusion imaging, gradient echo imaging, image post-processing, maximum intensity projection, multiplanar reconstruction, perfusion, spin echo imaging, surface coil imaging, T-1 and T-2 weighted imaging.
  • Ensure appropriate patient care for adolescent, adult, and elderly individuals, adhering to facility protocols.
  • Work night shifts from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM on a 5×8 schedule from Sunday to Thursday, with guaranteed full-time hours of 40 per week.
  • Engage in rotational on-call coverage with fellow technologists as necessary for the unit’s needs.
  • Uphold professional, safety, and quality assurance standards while managing approximately 10 MRI studies daily.

Qualifications for the MRI Technologist:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as an MRI Technologist is essential.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Possession of ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification is required; ARRT(R) and additional specialty certifications are preferred as applicable.
  • Experience in both teaching and community hospital settings is required.
  • Preferred candidates will have Level I trauma experience.
  • Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, ER, adult ICU, and various hospital environments is necessary.
  • Must have proficiency in IV starts, PACS, contrast preparation and administration, as well as MRI documentation processes.
  • Familiarity with EPIC and McKesson documentation systems is required.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working night shifts from Sunday to Thursday, with a schedule that includes no weekends, no floating, and occasional requests to cover extra shifts.
