Job description
Job Summary
The Trust and Estates Paralegal plays an essential role in assisting attorneys with various aspects of estate planning and trust administration. This position requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage numerous tasks related to estate management and conveyancing.
Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in the preparation of wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents.
- Assist in administering estates and trusts, including the preparation and filing of necessary documents with probate courts.
- Conduct research on estate laws and regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy in documentation.
- Prepare inventories of assets and assist with the valuation process.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and financial institutions regarding trust and estate matters.
- Maintain and organize files, ensuring all relevant documentation is up to date and accessible.
- Coordinate meetings and correspondence between parties involved in estate planning and administration.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certificate in paralegal studies; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a paralegal, ideally in the areas of trust and estates.
- Strong knowledge of estate planning terminology and processes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in legal research and familiar with legal databases.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
