Job Summary
The Vascular Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in the care and management of patients who have undergone vascular surgeries or procedures. This position requires specialized knowledge to monitor and provide post-operative care, ensuring optimal recovery for patients with various vascular conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ conditions post-surgery, ensuring timely recognition of any complications.
- Administer medications and treatment plans as prescribed by attending physicians.
- Educate patients and their families about recovery processes and health management related to vascular issues.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Document patient progress and response to treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Prepare and assist with follow-up exams and procedures as necessary.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Previous experience in a vascular surgical or step-down unit is highly desirable.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Effective communication abilities for collaborating with medical professionals and educating patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred.
