Job Summary
The Vascular Step Down position is integral to the specialized care of patients recovering from vascular surgery. In this role, the nurse will provide comprehensive monitoring and management of patients who are post-operation, ensuring their recovery is safe and effective. The nurse will be expected to utilize their expertise to identify any complications and offer interventions as necessary, championing patient comfort and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition following vascular procedures.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments to aid in the recovery process.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and recovery strategies.
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Respond promptly to any changes in patient circumstances or health status.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license in the applicable state.
- Experience in a step-down or similar care environment, particularly in vascular or surgical units.
- Strong assessment and analytical skills to swiftly identify issues and trends in patient health.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team collaboration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
