Job Summary
The Veterinary Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinary staff in the care and treatment of animals. This position involves a variety of tasks to help ensure the well-being of pets and other animals while providing exceptional service to clients.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures and tasks.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are equipped with necessary supplies.
- Handle and care for animals during consultations and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic or hospital environment.
- Provide customer service to pet owners, answering questions and offering information.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
- Assist in the management of records and client files.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in animal care is a plus.
- Prior experience in a veterinary setting or animal care environment preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
- Compassionate demeanor towards animals and clients alike.
- Basic knowledge of animal health and common medical practices.
- Ability to handle animals safely and comfortably.
