Job Summary
The Youth Shelter Coach plays a pivotal role in providing support and guidance to young individuals residing in a shelter environment during evening hours from Tuesday to Friday. This position focuses on creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere where youth can access essential services while developing life skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with youth to facilitate a positive and supportive living environment.
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to residents as needed.
- Assist in planning and leading educational and recreational activities for the youth.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and resident progress.
- Facilitate communication between youth and external support services or resources.
Qualifications
- Experience working with youth in a residential or supportive setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and demonstrate crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of community resources available for youth.
- Ability to work flexible hours, specifically evenings from Tuesday to Friday.
