Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a pivotal role within a fast-paced same-day operating room (OR) team. This individual is responsible for providing direct support to surgical staff and ensuring that all surgical procedures are conducted safely and efficiently. The Surgical Technologist will assist in preparing and maintaining the sterile field, as well as handling surgical instruments and supplies crucial for operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures by preparing and passing instruments, sutures, and supplies.
- Ensure adherence to sterility and safety protocols before, during, and after surgery.
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and monitor the sterile field proactively.
- Support in patient positioning and draping to maintain proper safety standards.
- Manage the cleaning and sterilization of instruments post-procedure to ensure readiness for the next operation.
Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technology program or equivalent training.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited body.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and operating room protocols.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a focused and organized approach.
