Sales Engineer
Location: Avon, OH

The Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in driving strategic growth by identifying and cultivating opportunities in both established and potential markets. This position focuses on forging strong customer partnerships, collaborating closely with Engineering and Product Development teams, and delivering technical acumen throughout the quoting, proposal, and sales processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Seek out, nurture, and act on new business opportunities within the automotive and vehicle powertrain sectors, particularly in tight-tolerance metal-formed components.
- Investigate and capitalize on prospects in emerging markets and industries outside the automotive domain.
- Lead sales initiatives related to advanced metal forming technologies such as stamping, flow-forming, and metal spinning.
- Establish and maintain robust, long-term relationships with current customers, prospects, and key industry influencers.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product Development to understand customer needs and create effective technical solutions.
- Offer in-depth technical product knowledge and process expertise to clients during the entire sales cycle.
- Assess customer requirements, propose suitable products and manufacturing options, and clearly communicate technical capabilities.
- Evaluate market trends, industry conditions, competitive actions, and customer preferences to spot avenues for business expansion.
- Assist in crafting quotes, proposals, presentations, and other sales-related materials tailored for the customer.
- Become familiar with and navigate customer-specific portals for quoting, account management, and order processing.
- Aid in contract negotiations and commercial discussions, ensuring alignment between customer needs and company goals.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Product Development, and other teams to successfully acquire and develop new business.
- Partner with independent sales representatives on assigned accounts to seek out and capitalize on new sales opportunities.
- Keep accurate records of customer interactions and opportunities, adhering to established processes for account management and sales pipelines.
- Remain updated on industry advancements, customer expectations, and innovations in tight-tolerance metal forming technologies.
- Leverage strong problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to address sales challenges and reach business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in technical sales or engineering.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with the automotive or powertrain systems.
- Experience in manufacturing techniques such as stamping, flow-forming, and skinning.
- Knowledge of PAPP or APQP processes.
