Job Summary
The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for the Night Shift is a vital role within a healthcare setting, focused on delivering high-quality patient care on a medical surgical unit during nighttime hours. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for individuals undergoing various medical or surgical treatments. This position requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while providing compassionate care to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop personalized care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health management.
- Ensure safe and effective patient care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
- Document all patient interactions and care provided in compliance with institutional policies.
- Respond to emergency situations efficiently while adhering to procedural guidelines.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice.
- A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical-surgical nursing setting is advantageous.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound clinical decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications may be required.
- Availability to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
