Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Laboratory Health & Safety Lead/Environmental Chemist to join our team in Corvallis, Oregon. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing health and safety protocols within the laboratory environment while also engaging in environmental chemistry initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess both technical expertise in chemistry and a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and compliance of laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs tailored for the laboratory setting.
- Conduct risk assessments and facilitate safety training sessions for laboratory personnel.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to laboratory safety and environmental standards.
- Serve as the point of contact for safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Conduct research and analysis to support environmental chemistry projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Proven experience in laboratory safety management and environmental chemistry.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards associated with laboratory operations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Certifications in laboratory safety or hazardous materials handling are preferred.
