Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for spearheading the creation and execution of automation solutions within manufacturing that enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and overall process consistency across various locations. This position collaborates with teams from operations, engineering, IT, quality assurance, research and development, and capital projects to design, implement, and optimize automated systems that help eliminate monotonous and hazardous tasks. The role involves supporting capital initiatives with a focus on automation strategies, equipment commissioning, optimizing processes, and fostering continuous improvements while adhering to safety regulations and cybersecurity protocols. Additionally, this engineer will provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to plant personnel, promoting the integration of digital manufacturing technologies and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Drive automation projects aimed at removing dull, dangerous, and dirty tasks, enhancing safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
  • Design, develop, and implement automated systems including robotics, PLCs, control systems, and digital manufacturing tools.
  • Collaborate with plant operations and subject matter experts to explore automation possibilities and refine manufacturing practices.
  • Establish and update automation architecture, programming standards, and technical documentation.
  • Oversee project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Conduct process analyses and root cause assessments, employing digital solutions and data-driven methods for corrective action.
  • Assist in capital and productivity projects through equipment enhancements and management processes during changes.
  • Ensure all automation systems meet company safety regulations and cybersecurity standards.
  • Create preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, work instructions, and operational procedures.
  • Examine process performance data to uncover improvement areas and demonstrate potential ROI for automation investments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field, or comparable experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing or automation engineering.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, including robotics, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization techniques.
  • Competence in using automation software such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Python.
  • Strong abilities in analytical thinking, problem resolution, and project oversight.
  • Proven leadership skills for managing cross-functional projects and multiple tasks.
  • Excellent skills in communication and teamwork.
