Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in assisting surgical teams during operational procedures. This position involves being integral to the preparation, maintenance, and organization of the surgical environment, ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are ready and sterile for use. Surgical Technicians work under the supervision of surgeons and nurses to provide patient care before, during, and after surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of the operating room prior to surgery, ensuring all surgical instruments are sterile and accounted for.
- Support the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies as needed.
- Help with patient positioning and preparation for surgery.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols to prevent infection.
- Manage surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are operational and available during surgery.
- Assist in post-operative care, including the application of dressings and preparing the patient for recovery.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
- Certification from a recognized agency, such as the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
