Job Summary
The BMT/Mal Heme RN is a vital role focused on delivering specialized care to patients undergoing Bone Marrow Transplant and those with hematological malignancies. This position requires the nurse to utilize their expertise in clinical practices to ensure high-quality patient outcomes in a complex healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Administer chemotherapy, blood products, and supportive care in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor patients closely for side effects and clinical changes, documenting progress and adjusting care as necessary.
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, and post-transplant care requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient care and treatment plans.
- Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects focusing on hematology and transplant care.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Previous nursing experience in oncology, hematology, or transplant nursing is preferred.
- Strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills.
- Certifications in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration are highly regarded.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and adapt to changing patient needs.
