Job Summary
The Hemodialysis Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering specialized care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. This role involves comprehensive patient management, from assessment to the ongoing monitoring of patients’ health status throughout their dialysis sessions. The Hemodialysis RN works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed assessments of patients’ health status prior to, during, and after hemodialysis treatments.
- Administer dialysis treatment according to established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor vital signs and manage any complications during the dialysis sessions.
- Educate patients and their families on dialysis treatment and self-care practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and assessments.
- Collaborate with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards in the dialysis unit.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant state.
- Previous experience in hemodialysis or critical care nursing preferred.
- Strong assessment and clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
